Description: This maki-e pen depicts a group of cranes dancing in the sky while in flight over a black background. The pen bears the signature of Pilot’s in-house group of Maki-e artists, the Kokkokai.

Ryosuke Namiki, the founder of Pilot, formed the Kokkokai in 1926 when he invited Gonroku Matsuda (who was later designated as a living national treasure of Japan) to head the group of maki-e artists.
